In Matthew 7.1, Jesus condemns thoughtless judgmentalism. We love one another by allowing God’s mercy to overcome our need to render judgment. In Matthew 7.6, Jesus commends thoughtful discernment. We love our unsaved, unbelieving neighbor by telling them about Jesus. At the same time, we must be careful how we talk to them about Jesus and this care requires us to deal with them according to their character.
