1 John 2:15-17
Using pornography is deeply sinful. It’s more sinful than we realize because it is rooted in all three basic sins of humanity.
1. The Sin of Lust -“The desires of the flesh”
Genesis 3:6 “The tree was good for food . . .”
2. The Sin of Idolatry- “The desires of the eyes”
Genesis 3:6 “The tree . . . was a delight to the eyes. . .”
3. The Sin of Pride- “The pride of life”
Genesis 3:6 “The tree was to be desired to make one wise. . .”
Our sin is uglier than we can imagine, but the horrific death of Jesus defeated sin, and the power of the gospel can set us free.
Next Steps for every person and family:
1. Commit to live porn free.
2. Give your spouse or someone else freedom and permission to ask questions.
3. Set up boundaries to protect you and your family from exposure to porn and other explicit images.
If you are struggling with porn, tell someone! You cannot fight this battle alone.
