When we follow Jesus, we begin to see people, provision, Jesus, and even ourselves from the right perspective. This message highlights those perspectives from the miraculous feeding of the 5,000.

Episode Notes

Follow: The Right Perspective, Mark 6:30-44

When we follow Jesus, we see with the right perspective:

1.  The Right Perspective On People:

The people were like sheep without a shepherd with no one to care for them, provide their needs, and lead them, so Jesus had compassion for them, fed them, and taught them.

Compassion= passion + commitment

2.  The Right Perspective on Provision:

When we follow Jesus, He will routinely call us to tasks so big we cannot accomplish them, He will ask us to give all we have, and He will provide in amazing, miraculous ways.

If you want to see God work in amazing ways, find a need that only God can meet, give yourself to it, and pray knowing that if God does not provide, then all hope is lost.

3.  The Right Perspective on Jesus:

By providing food for the people in a desolate place, Jesus recalled the feeding of Israel in the desert after the Exodus. Jesus is the new Moses who came to lead a new Exodus—an Exodus from sin.

4.  The Right Perspective on Ourselves:

Let’s get the right perspective on ourselves. Jesus is the Son of God, God in the flesh, who came to provide life for us. He had compassion on us because we were like sheep without a shepherd and like a hungry crowd nothing to eat. We are not most like the disciples, and we are certainly not most like Jesus. We are most like the hungry crowd with no way to feed ourselves.
