6. The Principle of Stewardship

Introduction

Genesis 1:28 (NIV) God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

  • Stewardship: the __________________ given to take care of the _______________________.

Three Areas of Stewardship:

1.  ________________________

Proverbs 25:28 (NIV) Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control.

  • When you have self-control, you can defeat __________ ________________________.

Ephes. 4:27 (NIV)  …do not give the devil a foothold.

Subduing Ourselves:

a.      The spirit-man must be ___________________

John 3:3 (NIV)   In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."

b.      The mind must be ___________________

Romans 12:2 (NIV)  …be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

c.      The flesh must be ____________________

Galatians 5:23 (NIV)  The fruit of the Spirit is… self-control.

  2.  ____________________

  • There will be many people whose ________________ ________________ will be determined by their relationships.

1 Cor. 15:33 (NIV) Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character."

Subduing Relationships:

a.      Must _____________________

b.      Must be ___________________

c.      Must ______________________

d.      __________________ must be clearly stated and kept.

e.      Must be built on ___________________

  3.  The ____________________________

  • God created the earth for ________________________; he created us for __________________________.

Subduing The Natural Realm:

a.      ____________________

Proverbs 14:23 (NIV) All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.

b.      Remember that All Work _____________________

Deut. 8:18 (NIV)   But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth…

c.      Seek the __________________, not ______________

Matt 6:24-33

  • We serve God, not money when we:

-          Control our money rather than letting our money control us.

-          Refuse to worry about things in the natural realm.

Transfer the first-fruits of our wealth to the Kingdom of God through our tithes, offerings, and gifts to the poor.
