Trying to raise kids well is one of the biggest challenges of life. But getting along well with our extended family can be a close second! Today we look at how we can bring spiritual disciplines to our families – that we might honor God in the way that we treat them. And we begin in the strangest way… by taking parenting tips… from a Klingon !

Episode Notes

If you are a parent, do your kids ever drive you crazy ?
Did you ever have to do a meeting with the teacher?
Did you ever feel at your wit’s end about the right way to raise your child ?
Growing up, did your parents ever drive you crazy ?
Was your relationship with your parents ever strained or distant ?
Are you, even now, still trying to figure out what it all meant ?
Families can be messy…

Proverbs 22:6
Train children in the right way, and when old, they will not stray.

Ephesians 6:1 -4
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother”– which is the first commandment with a promise–“that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

Proverbs 29:9,19
Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife…Better to live in a desert than with a quarrelsome and ill-tempered wife.

How we deal with our family is a crucial part of our relationship to God.
