Seize the Moment (Shepherds)

Pastor Nolan Carrier

Christmas is a time of surprises. There is excitement in the air at Christmas time that I think is generated by the fact that we are doing things for others and experiencing neat surprises among family members and friends.

Episode Notes

In the Christmas story, the shepherds were surprised and they seized the moment.

1. Once they knew, they went.
Luke 2:15 – When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, ‘Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.’

2. Once they knew, they told others.
Luke 2:17 – When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child,

3. Once they heard, they thought about it.
Luke 2:18-19 – 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.

4. Once they met Jesus, their lives were changed.
Luke 2:20 – The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

Conclusion: The shepherds went back to the sheep pastures, but they were changed, eternally changed.
