Rejoicing and Weeping

The teaching in scripture is we are not to live in isolation. The Bible teaches that we live community. We are a part of a priesthood (I Peter 2:9).

Episode Notes

I. Put other people's needs before our own.

Luke 10:33-34; 33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him.

II. We are to depend on one another.

I Corinthians 12:27; Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

III. We are to weep with those who are weeping. Romans 12:15b

IV. We are to rejoice with those who rejoice. Romans 12:15a

Conclusion:  "If other believers around you are rejoicing or hurting, and you are unaffected, you have become desensitized to the people of God. Ask God to put a burden on your heart. Ask Him to make you aware of others' needs and others' joys." Then respond appropriately, as the Spirit leads.
