LEGENDS OF THE FAITH - 1

(Hebrews 12:1) Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

For when you wonder if your life really counts...

“One person can make a difference.”

(Genesis 6:5-8) The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. The LORD was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain. So the LORD said, “I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth--men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air--for I am grieved that I have made them.” But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD.

(Genesis 6:8) But Noah found favor (or grace) in the eyes of the Lord.

(Hebrews 11:7) By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.

(Genesis 6:16) “…and the LORD shut him in.”

(Genesis 8:20-2) Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it. 21 The Lord smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: “Never again will I curse the ground because of humans, even though every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done…Never again…shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.”

(Genesis 9:1) And God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth...

(Genesis 9:12-15) And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: 13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

1.   You can make a difference for your family.

(Genesis 7:1) The Lord then said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation.”

(Acts 16:31) Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved--you and your household.

2.   You can make a difference for your generation.

(Acts 13:36) For when David had served God's purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep.

3.   You can make a difference for God.

(2 Chronicles 16:19 NKJV) For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.

(Ezekiel 22:30) I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found none.

NOAH’S WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

·     “Don’t be afraid to stand out in a crowd.”

(Proverbs 29:25) Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.

·     “Don’t be afraid to do something for the first time.”

(Hebrews 11:7) By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.

·     “When you see a rainbow, remember that one person can make a difference.”

(Genesis 9:13) “I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between Me and the earth.”

(2 Peter 3:6-9) By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men... The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
