Series: PSALMS

Frank Foreman

The second sermon in a series of messages from the book of Psalms. This week, we look at a familiar passage from Psalm 119 and adjust our traditional focus to step into the light of God's truth and what that means to a Christian in the world today.

Episode Notes

Psalm 119:105-106 ... Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. I have sworn an oath and confirmed it, to keep Your righteous rules.

Too many of us are unnecessarily stumbling through life in the DARK … Step into the LIGHT

1.  The Word of God is CLEAR

  • God is not AMBIGUOUS about what He has chosen to reveal

1st Corinthians 2:1-2 ... And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom.  For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

2.  The Word of God is UNDERSTANDABLE

  • It is ARROGANT to claim that God hasn’t spoken clear enough or us to understand.

John 20:30-31 ... Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this Book;  but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name.

3.  The Word of God is APPLICABLE

  • God’s standards are RIGHT for all people at all times in all places.

2nd Timothy 3:16-17 ... All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Genesis 3:5 ... For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.
