Series: Seek & Save

June 16, 2019
Frank Foreman

On Father's Day 2019 we return to the book of Luke and touch on a Scripture that every father should ascribe to share and teach to his children ... who Jesus truly is and how important it is to know and share with others.

Episode Notes

uke 9:18-20, Now it happened that as He was praying alone, the disciples were with Him. And He asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?” And they answered, “John the Baptist. But others say, Elijah, and others, that one of the prophets of old has risen.” Then He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” And Peter answered, “The Christ of God.”

BIG IDEA

The most critical issue that any of us will ever face is the identity of Jesus…

Who do you say that He is?

John 20:30-31, Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name.

1. What did Jesus say about Himself? (Divine Revelation)

Philippians 2:5-7, Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though He was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.

2. What do people say about Jesus? (Popular Opinion)

John 12:42-43, Nevertheless, many even of the authorities believed in Him, but for fear of the Pharisees they did not confess it, so that they would not be put out of the synagogue; for they loved the glory that comes from man more than the glory that comes from God.

3. What do you say about Jesus? (Personal Conviction)

Matthew 10:32-33, So everyone who acknowledges Me before men, I also will acknowledge before My Father who is in Heaven, but whoever denies Me before men, I also will deny before My Father who is in Heaven.

NEXT STEP:

I believe that Jesus is ...
