A Chapter of Worship

Series: A New Chapter

As the church of Acts begins another new chapter, it is clear that it was not a place for casual faith. Most evident is the impact that was seen in the lives of believers when they spent time fasting and praying for God's direction. In this message from Acts 13, we see the results of that commitment and the calling of Saul and Barnabas to spread the Good News of Jesus to places all over the known world.

Episode Notes

We will never change the world by GOING to church…  We will only change the world by BEING the church.

Acts 13:1-3, Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers, Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a lifelong friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.  While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”  Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off.

We, as the church, must have a CORRECT understanding of WORSHIP

Isaiah 6:3, And one called to another and said:  “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;  the whole earth is full of His glory!”

Revelation 4:8, And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”

1.  FIX my eyes on GOD

  • Worship is about God’s PLEASURE not MINE

2.  EXPECT to hear Him SPEAK

  • God’s WILL is found in God’s WORD

3.  RESPOND to His DIRECTION

  • The moment God SPEAKS is the moment He demands a RESPONSE

What is God SAYING to you right now?

What are you going to DO about it?
