WORDS MATTER

Series: JAMES

September 24, 2018
Rev. Jason Gaskin

Words are powerful. They have the power to tear someone down and they also have the capacity to build someone up. James says, "the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great exploits." The past couple of weeks we have been saying that faith requires work and action. It isn't just with a snap of a finger and we become the nicest people in the world. No, it takes intentionality and reflection. In today's society, we also struggle with the significance our words carry in emails, texts, and social media. More and more these means of communication are used to hurt others by expressing anger and discontent. Our words can be used to bless someone and they can also be used to curse. But here is the key... there is no middle ground. It is either one or the other. This week we will be reflecting upon our own lives and how we might be more faithful in using our words to build others up!
