"Good Works Won't Save You!" - Matthew 7:21-23 - Jason Boothe

This is a sermon preached by Jason Boothe, Pastor of Horizons Baptist Church of Piketon, Ohio. The text is taken from Matthew 7:21-23. Far from a call to save ourselves through failed attempts at obedience and works, Christ painted a terrifying picture of those who trust in these things for evidence or assurance of salvation. During judgment, people will begin to list all of the noble deeds they have performed in the name of Christ: preaching, casting out demons, and other mighty works. Christians trust the promises of Christ, resting in His finished work, seeking to serve Him out of a heart of faith-filled love. The false professors trust in their human deeds. This they do to their own peril. God will cast away everyone who attempts to attain righteousness through human effort. To the lawless who attempt to build their own righteousness from human works God will say, “I never knew you. Depart from me, workers of lawlessness!”
