Homily - Who Behold The Face (Bede) “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High, who abides in the shadow of the Almighty, will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.” “For he will give his angels charge of you to guard you in all your ways.” For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence; he will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler: “For he will give his angels charge of you to guard you in all your ways.” You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday: “For he will give his angels charge of you to guard you in all your ways.” No evil shall befall you, No scourge come near your tent: “For he will give his angels charge of you to guard you in all your ways.” DEAREST BRETHREN: HOW GREAT A COMFORT there is, For those who know with the certitude of Faith, THAT GOD HAS GIVEN one of His Angels charge over them; AND, THAT THESE SPIRITS of great power and might... AND WHO GAZE CONSTANTLY upon the face of our Heavenly Father WILL PROTECT THEM! And Jesus said: “See that you do not despise one of these little ones; for I tell you that in heaven their angels always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven.” On this FESTIVAL DAY of the HOLY GUARDIAN ANGELS May we be granted the grace to embrace that faith! AND ONCE AGAIN BEGIN to call upon their aid in our fight against the World, the Flesh and the Devil! In the Name of the Father And of the Son And of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
