The church, except for the Apostles, scatter due to persecution, preaching the Gospel as they go. Philip, the deacon, goes to Samaria. Many are converted, include a local magician named Simon. Peter and John investigate and finds it generally real. Simon, who is apparently faking it, offers Peter money for his power and is rebuked.
