Transforming Worship                                                       Romans 12:1-2

George Barna says, “Most Christians seem to be living lives that are indistinguishable from the world

“Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.” Ezekiel 36:26.

How do we deal with change in our hearts to move up to our minds?

____________ is the out working of God’s salvation in our lives.   Sanctification is in proportion to our _________ to the Word of God.

Transformed, is the word metamorphous.  There is an interesting contrast between change that starts on the outside— conformed, and change that starts on the inside— transformed.

Have you ever had this thought?  “I seem to be doing good in my Christian walk with the exception of __________________.”

“No, the people and situations around you aren’t your biggest problems. The sin in your heart is and for that there is transforming grace.” Paul David Tripp.

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Prov 4:23.                                                                                                                      “The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.” Luke 6:45.                                                      “Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.”  Col 3:5.

“Scripture divides human beings into two parts, ____________. As I am transformed on the inside and conform on the outside. The inner person is often described as the spirit, soul, mind, emotions and will. These are not different from the heart, but aspects of it, parts or formations of the inner person. The heart is the “real you.” Paul D. Tripp                                                       The _______ is the primary seat of our worship, where we hold our deepest affections.   Ezekiel 14:1-5                                                            John Calvin said, “Man’s nature is a perpetual factory of idols. Man’s mind, full as it is of pride and boldness, dares to imagine a god according to its own capacity.”                                               What hope does the Lord in His Word offer as encouragement to our tendencies?

I. The ________________ Challenge! Rom 12:2              Do not conformed…       “As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, 15 but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior;” 1 Peter 1:14-15

Kenneth Wuest put it this way, “Stop assuming an outward expression which is patterned after this world, an expression which does not come from, nor is representative of what you are in your inner being as a regenerated child of God.”                                 “________________” - refers to our outward experience that does not reflect what is within.                                                                          J. B. Philips, “Don’t let the world around you squeeze you into its own mold.”                                                                                    We need to see consecration prevents conformity.

II. THE _______________ CHANGE Rom 12:2b                                                                       “but ________________” - the metamorphosis is from the inside out.  Transformed is not constant; it is proportioned to our obedience.                                                                                       What is the problem?      Jeremiah 17:9-10 "’The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the results of his deeds.’”                                                                                              The Key to Transformation is “the ___________ of the Mind”

Psalms 119:11 “Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.”                                                                                   “Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.” 2 Peter 1:4.   “Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you,…”  Col 3:16
