Transformed into His Image                                                             2 Corinthians 3:18

Most Americans call themselves spiritual people and Christians. Yet, why is spiritual transformation so rare and fleeting?

2 Cor 3:18  “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit

Those who believe they are Christians, just one-fifth say they live in a way that makes them completely ____________ on God.

Just one-sixth of Christians say they are totally committed to ____________ in personal spiritual development.  Spiritual Transformation will ONLY come when we are compelled to study it ourselves.

The study identified four common Barriers to transformation,  Lack of _______________,                                                      Unwillingness to fully ____________,                                                       Confusing activity for _____________,                                                                      Failure to engage in genuine accountable _____________.

Therefore, if our minds are to be renewed it will not be done apart from the work of the Holy Spirit.  Romans 8:4-9 “in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; 7 the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those controlled by the sinful flesh cannot please God. 9 You, however, are controlled not by the flesh but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.”

I. We Are Transformed by What we __________  2 Cor 3:18              We are changed by beholding.

1 John 3:2 “Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.”

2 Cor 3:18 ___________________ by Beholding.                                                 We all have access: through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. Roms 5: 2                    For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. Eph 2: 18.  In whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.  Eph 3: 12

Unveiled ____________ It has to do with intimacy.                                Romans 8:29 says we are predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son. We become like Jesus by beholding Him.

How to behold ________ 2 Cor 3:18 says we are, “beholding as in a mirror.”                                                                                            “looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, Hebrews 12: 2.
