The world tells us there is a lot to be afraid of these days: climate change, immigrants, mass shootings, the safety of our children, losing our financial stability, religious fanatics, and people of the “other” political party. We read frightening stories in the headlines, we encounter fear mongers daily in the news and on the streets, and we’re told the world is always getting worse. But when we read Scripture, we find that our ancestors also experienced times of great fear and hopelessness. And yet, they turned to God and found strength in their faith. How can we follow in their footsteps and remain committed and hopeful today? How can we, too, be faithful and fearless?
