July 18, 2018
Brandee Nielsen + Sam Sorbo

Coffee Talk Topic: They’re Your Kids Your kids are just that, your kids! You get the sole privilege and obligation to decide and direct their course in life, above any institution. Today we're joined by one of the most enthusiastic and outspoken warriors for Christ we’ve had the honor to host, in Mrs. Sam Sorbo! Sam returns to Christian Coffee Talk to share about her book, They're Your Kids. An inspirational journey from Self-Doubter to Home-School Advocate. Host Brandee Nielsen says “Sam doesn't stop at sharing her homeschooling journey. She offers the largest mountain of nuggets we’ve received to date on this show. She takes us on an encouragement journey that goes against the grain and challenges the status quo. Touching on subjects that threaten our children’s Christian beliefs such as secular humanism, socialism, evolution, and more, tied to institutionalized education. You do not want to miss this episode even if you don’t have kids. But if you do, then I'm going to say it is required of you to listen to this episode. For everyone else, it's a true must!” Featured Guest: Sam Sorbo Sam Sorbo holds many titles including radio host, actress, international model, activist, author, wife, mother, and home-schooling advocate. Sam and her husband Kevin Sorbo are a powerhouse couple for Christ, who exemplify and advocate standing firm in our faith. Sam’s book titled They’re YOUR Kids, does exactly that, by encouraging parents through her own inspirational journey from Self-Doubter to Home-School Advocate. Sam says “renowned institutions (such as ivy league colleges) are recruiting homeschooled students.” But so many parents eschew the idea of homeschooling for one reason or another. One is that they don't feel adequate. Sam submits "we've been trained that we don't know anything that we haven't been specifically taught by somebody standing at a blackboard, or the equivalent thereof. And so we all think that if we don't have a degree in a particular subject, that we're just not capable, which is a fallacy. Some of our most successful people have been college drop outs. You don't have to know stuff to teach your child. You just have to have the curiosity to go and learn it. The homeschooled youth of today, is one who values education and who knows how to self-discipline. All of these great attributes that we would hope children graduating from institutions would have."
