Exodus background
Theological
God reveals himself to his people- he is rescuer who desires to live among his people and guide them in all of life.

Historical
Date-either the 13th or 15th century BC
Pharaoh- either Amenhotep the 2nd or Raamses the 2nd

Biblical
2nd book in Pentateuch, written by Moses primarily, a continuation of Genesis. Means exit or depart. According to Merriam Webster, the word Exodus was “Adopted into English via Latin from the Greek word exodos which literally means the road out.” The original Hebrew title, however was the first words of the first chapter, “These are the names”.

Geographical -what is today known Eastern Mediterranean region. It stretches from Egypt to Turkey. It includes the Middle East and modern-day countries such as Cyprus, Israel, Syria, Jordan , and more.

Scientists, historians, archaeologists and other academics will continue to look for more answers about the details of Exodus. But God has revealed all he wants you to know today to grow your faith in him.
