5. The Principle of Sowing and Reaping
Genesis 1:11-12 (NIV) Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds." And it was so. The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
Genesis 1:29 (NIV) Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.
Eccles. 3:1-2 (NLT) There is a time for everything… A time to plant and a time to harvest.
- We know is that, no matter what kind of economy it is, God has said this law of sowing and reaping will remain as long as ____________________________.
Genesis 8:22 (NIV) "As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease."
YOU WILL NOT ENJOY THE BLESSING, FAVOR AND PROVISION OF GOD APART FROM LIVING BY THE LAW OF SOWING AND REAPING.
- Two areas of sowing and reaping:
a. The _________________
b. The _________________ – this area requires us to live by _______________.
Galatians 6:7-8 (NIV) Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.
Hosea 10:12 (NIV) Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love…
Seeds of Righteousness
1 Thes. 5:11 (NIV) Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
Mark 16:15 (NLT) And then he told them, "Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere.
a. Refusing to ___________ (sins of commission)
Titus 2:11-12 (NIV) For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,
b. Doing what is ____________ (sins of omission)
James 4:17 (NIV) Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins.
c. _______________ others
Galatians 5:13 (NIV) You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.
Malachi 3:10 (NIV) Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the Lord Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.
Matthew 23:23 (NLT) …You should tithe, yes, but you should not leave undone the more important things.
Luke 6:38 (NIV) Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."
2 Cor. 9:6 (NIV) Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.
c. Giving to those ______________________.
Proverbs 19:17 (NIV) He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward him for what he has done.
Galatians 6:9 (NIV) Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
