Today Paul tells us to put on spiritual armor because we are in a spiritual battle. Is that really true ? Is there really such a thing as demonic forces ? If so, what is this armor and how do we use it? Paul shows both the cosmic battle and the practical facts on the ground: a big part of loving Jesus is choosing to stand your ground.

Episode Notes

“There are two equal and opposite errors into which our race can fall about the devils. One is to disbelieve in their existence. The other is to believe, and to feel an excessive and unhealthy interest in them. They themselves are equally pleased by both errors and hail a materialist or a magician with the same delight.” – C.S. Lewis

Some bullies are persons who cannot be seen. A solely materialist view of the world cannot fully account for the depth of evil and bizarre turns we find in human history. We are dealing with forces far beyond our ability to understand, or predict, or control. What we can do is grow strong in the Lord and walk in his ways. Godly habits and utter dependence on Jesus prepare us for the times we will be called upon to stand resolute against the temptations and terrors that assail us.

The only offensive weapon is the scripture – we are to speak it into the world – to fearlessly declare the truth of the Gospel.
